John Martin Moye was born in Lorraine, France, in 1730. He
received his higher Education at the University of Strasburg. At the age of
twenty-four he became a priest. In his great dedication to God and his
society, he perceived the situation of ignorance and misery of his time.
To remedy the above problem, John Martin Moye founded the
Society of the Sisters of Providence and sent them out to the countryside to
provide education to children especially the girls. The members of the
society in India since 1977 are continuing the legacy of the great visionary
who spent twelve years in distant China bringing to people the light of his
knowledge by his example and writings, John Martin Moye havegiven
testimony to the importance of a value-based education in one's life. This
great educationalist died on May 4, 1793 in Trives.

over the world, is deeply committed to education and character formation.
